*Why do we use zinc plated hardware instead of stainless? Isn’t stainless better?
For some applications stainless is great but it’s not always ideal. Galvanic corrosion between stainless hardware and aluminum parts is a real problem that can not only result in hardware that is nearly impossible to remove, but the stainless can actually leach material from the aluminum, leaving behind structurally weakened threads. Zinc plated mild steel does not do this and that’s why we prefer it. A little anti-seize helps assure that everything will come apart years from now.
What if my carbs are really gross?
Most carbs can be rebuilt without needing major components replaced. In the event that replacement parts are required they are generally available new or used at an added cost. In these cases we will contact you to discuss what is required. If your carbs are so far gone that they are not salvageable they will be returned and a refund will be given for the full amount less the cost of the return postage.
How do I send my parts in?
After you place your order we will send you a message with shipping information. Please prepare your carbs by ensuring they are drained of all fuel and sealed in freezer bags or similar. Pack them carefully because we can’t rebuild them if they break out of the box on the way here. On that note, we also suggest insuring the package for at least $500 with whichever carrier you choose to send it with since replacements are not cheap. Restored carbs are insured for $1000 when they are shipped back to you.
